Wetroom Kits for Tiled Floors FAQs

What is a floor former?

A floor former is a pre-formed structural shower base that creates the correct falls towards the drain, allowing water to flow away efficiently. It is installed within the floor structure and provides a solid, level base ready to be waterproofed before tiles are applied.

Can I tile directly onto the former?

No. Before tiling, the floor former must first be waterproofed using a suitable tanking system. Once the tanking membrane has been correctly installed and sealed, tiles can then be fixed directly onto the waterproofed surface using an appropriate tile adhesive and grout.

Which wetroom kit for tiled floors do I need?

The best wetroom kit depends on your individual project requirements. Factors such the available installation depth, drain position, room size and the direction of the floor joists all influence which system is most suitable. If you're unsure, our technical team will be happy to recommend the right wetroom kit for your project.

Are wetroom floor formers suitable for timber floors?

Yes, our range of floor formers can be installed in timber floors. The most suitable option will depend on the available floor depth, joist layout and preferred drain position.

Can wetroom kits be installed on concrete floors?

Yes, our systems can be installed in concrete and other solid-floor constructions, although the available depth and drain position should be checked before ordering.
