Waterproof Tile Backer Boards
Our waterproof tile backer boards provide a lightweight, stable and tile-ready surface for walls and floors in bathrooms, wetrooms and other wet areas. Available in a range of thicknesses and sizes to suit different installation requirements.

Boards can be easily cut and installed on suitable timber, masonry and other substrates using the appropriate fixing method.

Installing Tile Backer Boards
Tile backer boards can be cut to size using standard hand tools and installed using the fixing method appropriate for the substrate. In wet areas, all joints, fixings and penetrations must be correctly sealed to maintain a continuous waterproof system.
Tile Backer Board FAQs
Are Tile Backer Boards Waterproof?
Yes, the boards themselves are waterproof. However, the complete installation is only waterproof once the main wet area is fully tanked and joints, fixings and penetrations beyond this point have also been correctly sealed using compatible waterproofing products.

Can I tile directly onto tile backer board?
Yes. Once the boards are correctly installed and all joints, fixings and penetrations have been sealed, tiles can be applied using a suitable tile adhesive.
Can tile backer boards be used on floors?
Yes, suitable tile backer boards can be used on floors to create a stable surface for tiling. The correct thickness and fixing method will depend on the floor construction.

Can tile backer boards be used on walls?
Yes. Tile backer boards are ideal for bathroom and wetroom walls, particularly around showers and other areas regularly exposed to water.

Do I need to tank over waterproof tile backer board?
We recommend fully tanking the entire main wet area, even when using waterproof tile backer boards. Outside this area, all board joints, fixings and penetrations should still be correctly sealed to maintain a waterproof installation.
